Planned Maintenance - TFF - 13th August

We are updating the core software that TFF runs on and taking the chance to upgrade the server software at the same time.

This mean next Tuesday - 13th August, we will be taking the forum down for about 4-5 hours during the day from around 2pm.

You shouldn't notice any massive differences after the update, but there will be a few new features (that hopefully work).

The biggest upgrade that I understand is coming is the newly available 'dislike' button that, when clicked, administers a substantial electric shock to the posterior of the user whose post you disliked.

This site has a massive amount of extremely useful information within it but you are hard pressed to find any of it.
As an example, I was searching "Defender" the other day and ticked the "search titles only" button. None of the results had defender in the title. Turns out if you do that it includes tags, tags as far as I can tell are AI generated and completely random. Completely useless. eg. this thread has been allocated the tags family, jcb, mart and software. WTF?

sadly not - its quite a big job involving coordination between USA based developers and UK hosting on different time zones

hopefully yes - but that out of our hands as the base software TFF runs on is not ours

the in built google search is marginally better if you try it

these updates are mostly to avoid the issues that led to the ultimate demise and data leaks of other forums - they are mostly about security patches and upgrades plus some added user functionality

they require constant investment and have to be done

Don't do it: the other day I used the search term 'Defender' and I got 3 separate emails from companies trying to sell me a new crankshaft.

Can you turn off either the auto tagging or toggle it so tags are not included when searching titles only?
This thread has now been given the tag "defender" too so searching titles only this thread will be included if you search defender.
