Ram mount alternatives

Is there any alternatives to RAM mounts. They seem expensive for what they are. What else do the collective use to mount control boxes in cabs.
Thanks

Depends on tractor and what boxes you have, most tractors will have spare threaded holes on the cab pillars (some hidden behind trim) small boxes can go on windows suckers but they don’t like glass with a slight curve, if you have the monitor mounting bar that most tractor makes supply nowadays you can clamp or bolt to that

Pottinger control boxes had a tube with a butterfly bolt that tightened onto a rod like this

I use this type for my control boxes but have the rod attached to a ram mount in some tractors.

would not put any thing with a screen on a sucker , they can fall off and leave you with a damaged screen making a ram mount look cheap . been there done that alternatively get to pieces of angle alloy and fix them together so there is a slot running the length of the angle , bolt this to the frame of the cab with the above mentioned factory holes . now get some threaded knobs handles things which fit the back of your box , these will fit through the slot in the angle and slide back and forth to your required size ,

Just buy genuine Ram mounts, but don’t buy them through the official dealers as they’re bloody expensive as we all know.

Find the Ram online catalogue, identify the balls and clamps you need, and google the part numbers. eBay and other secondary sellers have never failed me yet.

Anyone worn a Ram mount out?

Should last forever or until everything Isobus
Used to work at a farmer who had those heavy trimble fmx gps screens, on a ram mount.
Bloody things kept sagging because the balls got soft in the sun.
Part of the fun of new machines for me is fabricating a bracket for control boxes on the lemon tube. Nice and sturdy.

Can’t say I’ve experienced soft balls & things sagging. All pretty perky here still. Had a fair weight hanging off them too.
One ball on cab pillar, another on back of screen. Only fabrication involved was making a stud with metric threads one end, imperial the other.
