Range Rover theft.

BBC news this evening tells of a RR being stolen and discovered in a container at the docks en-route to Africa. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-64151619
The accompanying CCTV clip shows the new RR outside the owners property and a car thief sneaking up on it. Seconds later the vehicle is off down the road!

Copy & pasted from Beeb; 63 seconds later is driving an expensive car down the driveway having never seen the keys in their life."

So y'all pay considerable sums of money for these top-end motors and in that price is the usual irritating immobilising key/security/door opener.
IMO, what a waste of money! This vehicle would have been slower to steal if you were given the proper key and had to use it in anger

So much for 'modern' vehicle security eh;)

Am I right in saying if you have let’s say a 2017 Massey that key will work for any Massey made in 2017.

I, with a lot of other rubberneckers, watched a recovery crew remove a BMW from a double yellow line. When the guy opened the drivers door we all went 'rhubarb, rhubarb' and the chap next to me turned and said, 'I'd take longer than that 'with' a key!'. Just to show how easy it was he did it again when the door swung shut on him.

I could see the point if they were 130,110 or 90 defenders being knocked you could cruise about most of Africa in them & they would run forever but the modern RR needs a bit of dealer computer regularly to silence the beeping & de-activate the flashing dash lights..............& important stuff like keep the suspension level & drive to the wheels.............maybe the Great continent just has more resourceful technicians.

Recon land rover make them easy to steal as most likley 1 in ten get nicked in first year so insurance company just replace it so 1 in 10 sales will lead to another sale within 12 months.
