Sheep is scanned with a single over a month off lambing. 1/3lb of nuts is more than I'd normally give them but grass and silage is short, these are North Country cheviots you can do more harm than good with feeding singles. In all my years and my father's we've only seen about 2 cases of possible twin lamb.
Think @puppet maybe missed the bit where the ewes all ran to eat forage apart from a few greedy ones whom scoffed all the nuts and got a sore belly ….. I added to include a treatment for twin lamb as I believed the ewe to be close to lambing and therefore would have become energy deficient very quickly however at a month away with a single she would likely be ok , hope she is continuing to improve 👍

No worse today but still grinding teeth, especially after giving water with dosing gun which makes me think its the stomach. I'm still giving bicarb. Any idea how long I need to keep it going? Surely the grain will have clear her system by now? As it was last Thursday when she last ate feed

Grinding a bit tonight when I took her in sounded rough hope she hasn't knackered her teeth 😥

Eating a lot of haylage after though so I don't know
Unfortunately there maybe something stuck in stomach, all you can do is care, have you given metacam?

Also a mate hang out with i bellieve is important, if an animal believes its going to die they go, if they believe they are ok and hangin with a mate and can do waht they do, they can get through amazing pain.

Ive had this with sheep, some will not give up and find a way to live, i have 26 pets and all have a story...all now healthy and happy.

I gave meta cam on day one before I thought of acidosis, but I know meta cam is hard on the liver so was worried I might do more harm than good, if her system was trying to process the acidity out of her body.

She's a lot better, only real symptom is a bit of teeth grinding. Eating a lot of haylage and could hardly catch her last night to take inside.

The meta and kidney warning to be taken with a grain of salt imo.

Eating and drinking good sign, they actually have alot of fight if you give them a chance (not always).

Ive got 26 that were meant to be put down, all happy as larry, henry got through rear leg torn ligament plus broken front leg at same time, tough as buggery, but i looked after him and he would not give in.
