this is the problem at the moment they are selling something that has no value to the end customer, if it had a value we would be only to happy to buy it.
if they used a big fat carrot instead of a bloody great stick we would be happy
That’s it in a nutshell.

if a ‘Brand’ has no value it has no point to it.

It's a good advert. I like it.

The thing is, it would have exactly the same impact if it was produced by AHDB and advertised a Union Jack rather than a red tractor.

This is why Red Tractor doesn't serve a purpose in its current guise. A 'premium' product with no premium.
This is why the RT business model has become one of compulsion because it can't otherwise justify its existence.
If RT actually achieved a premium so that producers want to choose to join then all would be good.

Yeah exactly. AHDB can't promote British - but can promote an Assurance Scheme that only involves British suppliers. Hence the support financially to RT and the alignment with the scheme on promotional activity. The Colemans ad is brilliant but Colemans would not be under the same restrictions.

As for the RT advert. I wonder how easy it would have been to get film footage in a year of lockdowns. Full crews of camera people getting out on farms. To me, realistic animations seems logical as they can do all of that remotely. Just a practical point to consider.

This thread started as criticism of an advert that promotes brand recognition for a brand that most farmers criticise because it isn't recognised. Where's the logic? I hope everyone has fed in their views via the consultation... I have.

Don’t know how easy it would have been for them to film an ad on farm during lockdown but I’m pretty sure plenty of other ads have been filmed even if not on farms, perhaps it’s the on farm bit that would be difficult 🤔

There are a few comments on the Andrew Blenkiron thread suggesting that this advert is deceptive and contravenes several ASA rules

From me:
Conveniently forgetting to add that all the livestock products, although British could (and almost certainly will) have been fed on imported, unassured feed grains! Including GM Soya, probably from a former large Wood in Brazil where it rains a lot.

Brilliant!
Is this Deception and/or a lie?

Notice how they fluff it up with animated characters too.
What a joke!

One day RT, you will be giving me all my money back - 20 years worth plus interest!

And from @Clive, who I hope won’t mind my copy and pasting to this thread:
few issues for ASA attention

“our cows” do RT own any cows ?

its suggests WLA - farm to fork - this is not the case so is a deception

100% british ........... well 90 days in the country naybe !

i think it needs reporting to the ASA by as many as possible - lets not make running a protection racket easy !!!

Thing is to market stuff at a premium would take skill and talent.

Red Tractor have Jim Mosely and Andrew Blenkiron...

Red Tractor is of no value to the farmer, it is just a means of supermarkets increasing their profit on certain items! This new RT advert is pathetically juvenile when compared to Mcdonald's advert last year, to think we fools are paying for that rubbish makes you want to weep.

Loving like the colmans advert, simply saying NZ lamb might be good stuff but we dont want it, We want British. I saw that and it lifted my mood somewhat.

the RT advert just doesnt give out any buy british mood, just perpetuates the myth that farmers need a big stick over them to keep them in line, and only clipboard people are capable of doing this
