Replacement for Massey Ferguson 5470

Just pondering changing this tractor. It's a loader tractor but has done a hell of a lot more - been great to be honest.

Also got a MF66 series and that's physically bigger. The 56/57 seem quite a bit smaller than the 5470 but that might be an illusion.

Happy to demo other makes - quite like case/nh offering. What would be your suggestions at the moment for a nearly new 130ish hp loader/do everything (mowing, fert, trailers etc) tractor?

Thanks

Verstrum? case or the nh equivalent for a similar size iv got a maxxum but its a 4 pot in a six pot chassis so it does sit quite big. I'm assuming the verstrum (however you spell it) is the replacement for the short wheel based 4pot maxxums. I had a 110 max borrowed last year and bloody loved it

5713s tend to punch above there weight
6120m would suit loader work well too with the droopy nose and a bit physically bigger not used one yet right enough

It might well be that the 5713 is the natural successor, just looks a bit smaller and would prefer the weight for handling heavy bales.

I do like the case/nh offering.

I'm sure the john deere would be nice. I haven't driven a modern one but i struggle to see why it justifies such a premium.

Mine handles an amazone 1201 sprayer no bother with front weights on. It's no problem with 2 bales of silage on rear and 1 on the loader. Recommend you try one. Can be speced as basic or fancy as you want or can afford. Only thing is if you have to have 50k you'll need to get a 6700 but then they are larger.

Wouldn't mind a n series at all but they do seem quite a chunk more expensive (going by equivalent s/h values).

Looking at the weights on tractordata website (not sure how accurate/american) but the 57 is actually heavier than the 5470!

50k would have been a bonus as would take a bit of pressure running around off the big tractor but probably not a dealbreaker.

Just changed our 8000hr 5470 for valtra n134a so far very pleased with it. Gearbox not as good and the brakes require a bit more pressure to stop. Also have 6716s which was physically a bit to big for what I needed

The smaller size is an optical illusion, because it it is on the same wheels and tyres it will be exactly the same height to the top of the cab as the 5470.
However, if you want the D6 transmission and a fuller specification generally, then the 6713S at 130hp with a boost to 150 when needed, and 650Nm torque may be what you are looking for. I believe you can also specify this tractor with the IVT transmission from Fendt which is a superb thing for both loader and field work, but of no advantage when roading.

Most brands have four cylinder equivalents these days.

Good to know that it is pretty much like for like. Spec available would more than match current tractor so not worried about that. Suspension and bigger hydraulic pump would be my biggest wish upgrade wise.

We have a 6616 so I imagine 130hp in that size of tractor would be a bit underwhelming. How are those IVT boxes on steeper banks?

You can get dyna 6 on a 5713s if you wish and a bigger pump and full suspension.
Dyna vt will be fine on banks boys in nz use fendts and the stuff they do is stupid

I have a solitary case maxxum here and prefer it to the newer masseys, mine hasn’t got a loader but I’ve used a mates that has and like that, steering is much lighter on the case which is good for loader work. One downside of the maxxum is it’s higher than a Massey although I think there’s a low profile option.
Try one, see how you like it, not everything about the case is better than the Massey for sure but there’s no way I’d swap it for any of the current MF line up.

I’m the opposite far more time and experience on a case but used a fergy not long ago and would have over over a case no question wouldn’t want one without the fancy armrest, joystick and multicontroller

Nothing is black and white, personal preference and use will no doubt influence our preferences, personally I would rather a Case without the multi controller armrest, and hopefully never again with electric spools after having them on a 5613, which I changed for a Case as I simply couldn’t get on with it.
