| wouldnt be looking to advertise would be for someone i knew or friends recommended.
There are couple of young lads one part of a farming family just taken on land in similar circumstances.
Other working away and renting seasonal lets
The land could easily be split into 3 lots of 50 acre ish parcels
I'm thinking someone who wanted the whole farm might also need the house and i'm not ready to leave quite yet

If you want to travel then you dont want any stock, we are looking at a similar situation although I'm ten years older, income is the issue obviously, we are lucky that we have a few let units which will provide our pension that might be harder if you are a bit away from town.
Main thing is go for it you only live once and you're a long time dead.
My plan was to retire at 60 but things change and i'd like to travel without needing a stick. Hard enough remembering to pick up my glasses, phone and wallet before heading out the door.
'you only live once and long time dead' has been in my head for 6 years and one reason why i have interests outside farming

And have it run into the ground.
I'd far rather have land " run into the ground " than grant a long term tenancy and lose the ground altogether for 200 years......
So far on this thread we've had the young guns that are arguing over whether share farming agreements will pay before they've even started, and others that want the land cheap for 25 decades.

My advice to the OP is keep it simple, keep it short, watertight agreement, don't land yourself with aggravation.

Anyone who goes into a partnership with an old person is taking a huge risk.
When they die or lose their marbles you will be dealing with offspring desperate to get you out now that the farm is looking good and ripe to sell.
This is why I thought it better too “rent” the farms rather than share farm. Everything that is mine can be loaded up and moved in 1/2 a day. BUT I do have the advantage of the home farm where we base everything. Anyone without this operating base and so in need of using the share farmed units as a base is playing with fire as you say.
@TJ5 if you know a couple of likely local lads or lasses that’s ideal! No reason why it couldn’t work similar to my arrangements. Leaves you free too do whatever you like and dip in when you fancy as well. In theory they will care for the land far better than a succession of short term summer let’s and winter sheep tack. 👍

There’s a massive difference between a 12/24 month agreement and a 6 month one! Around here the people who have let there farms in that respect get the outfits who plaster N on and no organic matter at all, then wonder why after 5 years the farms turn yellow!
