RHI System Heat Meters .

With regards to Sontec and glycol... we had their sales rep in yesterday and you can set the meter (using an App) to the level of glycol you have in the system. That means knowing how much is in there of course but our engineers already test for inhibitor and pH on every service so adding glycol in also shouldn't be that difficult.
Call if you need assistance.

My preference was to use Kamstrup as they are better quality, however i was advised that the Sontex could handle glycol and retain all approvals for the MID. But now my ofgem inspector has questioned the viability of this. Im waititng for sontex to confirm, i will let you know.

No i have had a Sontex for years because of the glycol but they are now questioning the accuracy/markings on the new replacement.

So they want you to replace or recalibrate your heat meter after 10 years.
But question the accuracy of a new meter.
You couldn't make it up if you tried.

Im in my 11th year, never heard anything about replacing my meters, ive 5 on a two house system, but only need to take a reading from my main meter out the boiler, will they eventually contact me to replace or calibate?

We got this at the end of last month

In line with Regulation 45(1)(c), you are required to recalibrate or replace all meter(s) within 10 years, or manufacturer’s instructions, whichever is sooner. As a result, the following non-compliance will be investigated by the Compliance Team:

No
Non-compliance
Actions

The installation has been accredited for over 10 years. Meter(s) have been replaced/ recalibrated, but these changes may have occurred after the 10-year milestone of 07/03/2022. This is in breach of Regulation 45(1)(c).Confirm the exact date meters M001.01, M003.01, M008.01 and M014.01 were replaced and provide supporting evidence, such as a letter from a qualified installer. Please also confirm the date you first contacted your installer, with supporting evidence.
In addition, please provide an explanation why you have not replaced your meters on time. Please support any statement with evidence.
Please send all evidence requested to [email protected] by 22/04/2024.

There is no grey area. They will deduct all rhi income from the day your meter was over 10 yrs old to the day the new one is fitted.

It took me a few months to sort out woodsure and I had 2 months where I was out of time. In that 2 month period I used no fuel nor the boiler but they doctored a proportion of the 3rd month from that quarter, even though I could prove my meter readings over this time.

Then the meter stated to play up, turns out for the last 6 months it’s been reading about 40% under. They refuse to backdate the readings based on a decent history of fuel and meter readings.

When it comes to this sort of grant money you don’t get much compassion

Your fate is 1 years RHI lost. The entire RHI scheme is costing the taxpayer just over £20 billion and the govt has told Ofgem to use every excuse possible not to payout. Dont forget a few years ago the whole Irish RHI scheme brought the govt down.

Think was different slightly out there.
Don't start us on DRAX , Port Talbot green energy Grant's, unemployment, Wind power ,Solar Power , home energy Grant's etc etc etc , .

A few hundred a quarter to a small ,legal operator that already had legal inspected and WORKING OK metering that HAS TO BE changed for a money making RENEW METER PROCESS for a NEW ONE that then carries on submitted correct readings while WAITING best part of a YEAR for OFGEM to ammend and change their COMPLICATED system is bad enough whatever.
All out of our control anyhow. 😡

Sontex meters can take glycol - You just need to have them calibrated to show glycol levels. As far as I sontex are the only ones that can take or can be calibrated and conform. Speak to DMS meters - 01773 534555
