Permanent Position: Skilled Arable Operator​


Background​

Stevens Farm is a 1400 hectare mixed farming business, based in Hawkhurst, Weald of Kent. Currently farming 100 hectares of top fruit, 1300 hectares of arable mainly focusing on winter cropping. We have been direct drilling for the past decade and using an increasing amount of organic matter to improve our soils and boost our yields. We carry out in farm trials as part of the ADAS YEN project and a number of partners – in order to further our farming knowledge and progress our business.

We run a modern machinery fleet of Fendt tractors, Fendt Rogator, Claas Axion 960TT, and two Claas Combines, all run on RTK FNET.

Position​

We are looking for a motivated person to join our small passionate arable team. They would assist in all aspects of crop husbandry (relief spraying, and fertiliser spreading), harvest (combine driving, grain cart), cultivation and drilling. Ideally, they would have the following qualifications:

  • Clean driving licence.
  • PA1, PA2 and PA4.
  • Telehandler certificates.
  • Experience of combining and drilling.
  • An ability to work alone and part of a small team to a high standard.
Training would be given to the right individual, we have a history as a business of investing in people and training people who show the right aptitude.
