Looking for a 100hp or thereabouts, light and nimble but with all the features found on the bigger models, e.g. Front susp, cab sus, decent gearbox, a/c, loader, decent cab etc

Is it possible to find one without getting too heavy and big !

Looked at JD5100r and claas 420 thus far..

depends how deep your pockets are a fendt has to be considered in there ,having a tractor with front suspension only and another with cab suspension the cab suspension wins. all day thats on a global massey .Very basic but even that has too many gadjets brake to clutch i dont find much good loading perhaps with a baler and the 2 auto drive speeds arnt much cop either but otherwise the cab has excellent vision better than the 57 s.

The Deere had that auto clutch function, which was ok but was annoying on hill starts on the road... you could turn it off, but it reset to on again when you re-started tractor..

It also had a button on the loader joystick for the fwd/rev shuttle which was great..... BUT, the button was in the same place as the 3rd service button on my other loaders...

Case IH have released a model called the Versum which is between the Luxxum and the Maxxum, 3 models, 110, 120 and 130. All CVX and I'm sure you can spec them well. Multicontroller in them all as well I'm sure.

Do any of these little tractors do 50k? The fendt 200/300 series seems to be limited to 40k which is pathetic in this day and age

If you're going far enough for 10 km/h to make a meaningful difference then you should probably be using a lorry instead, for the sake of your own sanity as well as that of every other poor sod on the road who is just trying to get on with their day.

However, my personal views aside, as I understand it 50k is about more than just tweaking the gearbox and/or diff ratios. There are suspension/axle/braking and other bits required and I suspect that adding all of the equipment legally required for 50 km/h in mainland Europe would turn the small, lightweight, relatively cheap tractors into heavier and more expensive ones. That would be somewhat defeating the point.

Yes,neighbour has a JD5100r with that gearbox and absolutely hates it,ridiculous that you have to turn off the brake to clutch every time you start it,should be the other way round. On these small tractors you don't want too fancy a gearbox cos they take away too much power when youre only starting with 100hp.Apparantly Deere are putting a powerquad gearbox in the 5100M range from next year, much better suited for a basic loader tractor.

Before you buy a case with same cab ad the farmalls had (small long rearwindow and bowed windows next to it), test it on a hot day. Aircon was horrific on the farmall at my old job.
