998 but it's a monster of a machine, takes a lot of space over winter and if running on the field can't pick anything in the hedge or in a awkward bit, can be used as a static wrapper. The Kuhn looks a better idea, narrow on the road but telescopes out in the field, you can back into a corner or edge and pick a bale up, takes less space and less moving parts but can't be used as a static wrapper.

General question about balein silage/haylage with a 4x3 what length bale would you make and would you expect to get as much as a good round baler in ?
All bales are weighed on the truck carting it and product is DM tested by an Independant company.

we run a fusion 3 and a v660 McHale. Generally a 4 ft bale will be around 300 kg DM.
With a 4x3 baler (nh1290) we can get 400 kg dm in a 1.5 meter bale.
The HD balers will be even more.
W tend to tube wrap squares so there won’t much more plastic used compared to tubing a round. When it’s individuals then yes more plastic is used.
You have to decide if it’s justifiable when you have 33% more dm in a bale.
