Will st turnips be affected and or can you get resistant varieties etc ???
Any help appreciated

Genuine question, does anyone ever have a problem with growing too much winter fodder and not getting off it in time for spring drilling?

It’s never wasted, you can always plough in the biomass and pretend it was one of those fashionable ‘cover crops’.?

I sprayed off & ploughed in the last 2ac of fodder beet this Spring, but only as the price had collapsed so that it would barely have covered the cost of lifting it. I did run a mob of 100 rams onto it but, having lost a cracking ram cast between the rows of beet, I gave up on that idea.:(

I was talking to somebody the other day that grew 30ac of beet for a digester last year. After a harvesting delay the digester then said that they didn’t want it! He topped the bolting heads off and has been grazing it with ewes and lambs all summer, which has helped him out of a tight spot on a drought prone farm. I’d never have considered doing that.:banghead:
