Swallows 2020

Still none here yet. Quite a few wrens though, making their presence known with that rather peculiar type of tweet . Robins too . Quite a few blackbirds , but the "pied " one , that we've had for a year or two , and nested here regularly seems not to have survived . I think there will be a few off spring that just might carry the gene , that hopefully will re-appear in time . We have a big stone horse trough in the yard near to where I "self- isolate" and it's been most interesting watching the birds come and bathe and drink , they don't seem to have fear as long as I don't make sudden movements .

1st pair of house martins spotted at lunchtime today, same day as last year. Always a highlight of the year!

Saw housemartins and swallows yesterday on a yard near Cambridge and then the first pair of swallows back in the village this afternoon. Hopefully the shower we had overnight will have dampened the ground enough for nest-building.

?? Swallows!! Main bunch arrived yesterday evening. So nice. 12+ all round the yards, looking at last years sites. You have to wonder if they are the original or offspring's from last year .. and as an added bonus .. a pair in the parlour, next to last years nest, watching us all through milking this morning, singing their hearts out. Very distracting!! and I'm sure Red Tractor would disprove, but I don't care!! It was lovely!!!! ??

Ours returned back on the 19th Apr a lovely sight to see
