Swallows 2020

Had an elegant series of flypasts in the forenoon. Four swallows counted, but there could be more soon ?

Well, a bit perplexed as saw my first one on the 6th April, seemed to be floating about since, I did see a 2nd one yesterday but no real numbers at all yet.

Arrived at the folks farm last week and appeared with me today. We are only a few miles apart.

Mine have just appeared today.Nice to see.Thought they werent going to come this year.Its the latest they have arrived but they have made it.

Ours arrived on the 19th April, a year to the day they arrived last year. A couple of weeks later and we have about 20 flying around, this is significantly less than last year.

One here on the 7th April, a week earlier than normal alway 15th April loads now.

First swifts and house martins here today. All back safe.

Its been like watching an autumn gale blowing the leaves around today with a 2nd wave of House Martins in. They seem absolutely fearless, really going for it collecting mud, 10+ at a time, right in front of me. Having lost them all years ago, we've gone from one pair about 5 years ago that came back but were chased away by House Sparrows to this and I just cant stop just standing and watching them.

Same here, a couple of early fly-bys, but nobody coming to stay. Then ours turned up a few days ago and they're starting to build nests already. They never fail to make me smile, wonderful little birds.
