Vicon is the weapon of choice for me but the einbock type seeders or air drills do a good job but don't sow it too deep.
Kev, what width of spread do you get with the Vicon?

Approx 3m a little more perhaps.
I'm also using an amazone ZAX for grass seeds on setting 8-10 works very well drive about 1metre from the last bout[emoji106]
Kev, its a while ago since I used a Vicon but want to go back to sowing my own.
What( I think) I can remember was that I didn't run the tractor at full revs, and the setting on the vicon was in or around 14 for 15/16kg /acre ( and forward speed was 6mph).
Is that close to what you are running?

thats what i use as well.

plus bigger wheels help to reduce 'bounce' and also i find it's best not to have too much grass seed in the hopper as it compacts slightly even with the agitator, then gives an unpredictable seed rate i think .- one acres worth optimal ir ... if you can bear getting on and off to fill each time... -carry seed on a frame / front of thetractor.

i often just mix seed in the hopper as i go ie extra clover or a bit of chicory etc.

i have an 'a' frame welded on to hitch up easily and so it will fit on the loader with a frame adaptor to get it moved around, no end tow then needed.

Very similar I think I was on number 16-18 and about 6.5 mph driving a metre or so from last bout.
I usually put half the seed in and sow the field once then other half in and sow it again across the marks doesn't take much longer tbh.

Havent rread all the posts but the best machine I had was a kockerling grass harrow with paddle boards. Key was having a pto driven seed box that was easier to calibt=rate than some others.

Broke out this beast for a bit of grass seeds. Fiona grass box mounted on an old cultivator frame. 4 metre at brisk pace at little more than tick over soon covers the ground. Always go twice over to get the best coverage.

I've tried using our accord, use a contractor with a knockerling and a grass harrow. Best results i get are with a teagle twin disc spreader that over laps the seeds.

This year we ploughed, flat rolled, power harrowed (don't usually but time was against us) then tume/speed harrowed ,sowed, then cambridge rolled. Oh and shut the gate.
