Finished barley this evening, tiny bit of straw to bale in the morning if lucky. Nothing else ready for over a week at least thankfully looking at the forecast.

5 acres of WB to finish off tomorrow morning, baler coming tomorrow to tie it all up, hopefully, before the rain. Will be a busy afternoon making room and shifting about 400 bales.

Osr ready to go now - hopefully will still be there once it dries again.

Aircon not working in combine tho

Interesting discussion as to when to cut too wet, from 2017.

Interesting discussions about starting with high MC if the weather looks catchy because you can be drying whilst it's raining and have less left to do.

Well worth a read

Well I ve also moved to "harvest 2019" as looking at revised weather forecast for next week decided to get on. Not ideal as had to move combine 16 miles at lunchtime, boy the amount of traffic! Had to fetch trailer also after so was 4.30pm before I started on barley, 12.6 % and seems to be yielding well. No idea of weights as not normal trailer but it's a 12tonne Boughton with 6 ft high sides and got 5 and and a bit loads off a 15ac field and big rows of straw also.

Not you then that has cut some fields of wheat just outside of Porlock in the last couple of days @Oscar ??

Doesn't look much straw in the swaths!

Finished the WB last Wednesday, started wheat Thursday and managed to get one farm done before the heavens opened Saturday, the grain is fit, 14-15%, but the straw is still hanging on, hopefully things will be better by the time it dries up.

Let’s redress the balance! It seems we here in eastern Lincolnshire are experiencing yet another bout of good fortune. Volumes of rain have been low according to the forecast my rape is still on course for the end of the week. I think the wheat won’t be far behind. A bit of wet and dry accelerating the disappearance of green leaves from the crop. My neighbours who have harvested rape appear to be encountering very good conditions for their cultivation programs. Fingers crossed the almighty we continue to smile on us.

too wet here after rain for 24 hours
and it looks like more rain on wednesday
may not have harvested any in july
wheat looking 10 days away with 2 days rape so not over worried
some wheat has laid down but would be disappointed if the weather had not knocked any down

Well stated today after all so I now need to retire from this thread

Had dropped to 8.7% buy 7pm and we are still at it now

Expect rain to stop us again shortly but at least we are a few acres in !

Raining here now @Clive . I tried some more barley this evening, but at just under 19% I gave in. Tested a % lower before gong through the combine, and with a sunny evening, I thought it might still drop. If it was wheat in late September I’d have persevered , but it’s still July, surprisingly .
