Topcon Agi 4

Anyone out there had power up issues on a topcon agi4. When switched on you get no lights come on. I tried another agi 4 on that tractor and it was fine so I know the loom is good to it. Any ideas would be appreciated. I did have an agi 3 do this once and unfortunately it couldn't be repaired. Worried it might be the case of this one. 😕

Agi-4 needs to see ignition live on the correct pin. Yours has “gone to sleep”. It was common in my day 2012-2018. You need to press the internal power reset button with it powered up. With it connected remove base plate (about 10 Allen bolts) to the left of the kidney shape area for IMU module is a tiny hole . Insert a pin and it will come back to life. Then with it connected to a screen, changes power management settings

The only one I could see is the ignition wire live or something like that. But that was disabled. Could not find any power management settings on my access level. Thanks. I think you use to come and visit us at Hitcham in your days.......

I have had a simular problem. I'm doing lots of testing with my Topcon AGI4 , and last week i removed it again from the cab and reinstalled it to find out it wasn't
booting anymore. So far i had no knowledge of the reset button so i opened it completely (alu cover off, removed the gyro and modem and the plastic cover under that)
and found two buttons. I pressed both while on power and it rebooted.

But now my reciever (or tractor - Fendt SCR) does not remember it's settings. Everytime i boot it up , it seems to start from scratch. It also has no memory of previous
connections and it takes a while for it to find enough sattelites to get an RTK fix.

Weird thing is also: when i unplug the reciever from the cable loom ,it doesn't reboot again and i have to use the reset button again to power it up.

I did have it hooked up to the Topcon Reciever Utility (RTU) program on my laptop before and i had a backup of the settings, but importing all those settings
again did not fix the problem. I see in the manual that there is a setting that can be set on the X30 screen that sets the 'use ignition line' to enable or disabled. but
i don't find that option in the RTU program.

Does it have an internal battery to remember it's settings? Can it be replaced (soldering is no real issue) ? Or is this another problem ?

Thanks for any input

I don't think the batteries are very easy to get hold of. The whole job is not that easy so I have been told.
Topcon will do the agi 4s I think still. The chap that supplies my rtk etc did mine. Apparently they all fail at certain points it's almost designed in to them I think.

Thanks for the info. I'll do allot of electronic repairs , so i'll first check out what's inside to see if i can fix it.

In the end the issue isn't that big. for anyone dealing with this problem , you need to order this battery:

tlh-2450-p

It's solderded to the main GPS board , get a desolder iron and it's not a big thing. Or let someone do it who knows how to solder.
