Only thought it was dear as my business (garage) including 8 cars of my own/business,public and employers liability, tools etc etc was under 3k last year (not had renewal for that one yet)

Talk to Peter Hull, Lycetts, Northampton. Get a quote via the AXA Smallholders Insurance Policy. We've got our farm through AXA but the Tractors and machinery through NFU. AXA were better on risk, buildings, liabilities etc and as close (under) as made no difference to the NFU. So we stuck with NFU with the kit for the (perception, as we haven't claimed for many years) that their vehicle insurance claims handling is the best

Have just renewed tractors, machinery and vehicles and was less than normal target of 1% of value insured. That was via Lycetts. I would ring round a few. In my experience, cover from nfu is very good but they know how to charge for it.

I would stick with the NFU, they are a far easier company to deal with, especially if you were unfortunate enough to have to claim...

If you do not usually claim then the nfu is too dear, the old saying is you need atleast one claim a year to balance nfu insurance

I think it’s dear mines based on value so every 25k is ‘roughly’ £350, (different on quads etc)

So I’ve got a loadall, 5 tonne digger and tractor for around £700 ish premuim cost, total sum insured aprox 50k of stuff

Nfu are are no better to claim with than anyone else that’s an urban myth, we had a claim and they were right arses after years of loyalty,

With broker now, has a claim other year extremely easy and paid promptly, insurance price is fraction of Nfu also.

its not the value of the tractor but the damage it can do. when you go down the road and lose a trailer of the back and it runs into a minibus of kids the claim is millions not 4k for another tractor

4 tractors 1 loadall = 750
