Trailer Build

Its nowt to do with a lack of grasping the design and in not saying he's wrong and that there will be anything lacking in the finished trailer. But a trailer for the back of a tractor and for the back of an articulated truck are two very different types of trailer and subject to very different point loadings so to assume because beams are used in truck trailers that most be the only way to make a trailer isn't true.
I get what your meaning as my thoughts on it are hgv trailers are designed to flex and need to be light whereas Ag trailers don’t want to flex and farmers seem to think the heavier the trailer is then the better it is !!!! Not much design needed on an Ag trailer just add more steel it seems to be and box section chassis are easy to fabricate and look the part too hence why lots of Ag trailers are box section

I cant see the harm in a small bit of flexing. Only thing I have against RSJ in an ag environment is all the crap it can hold leading to corrosion. Looks very well designed so far.

Fifth-wheel support is very different from the single point loading of a pick-up hitch..

looking good … but the only thing I want to ask about is..
Will the axles, suspension cope ok with the severe scrubbing action of fully loaded trailer turning short on hard surface
30 or so years ago I used to work at small rural garage, twice in a couple of weeks a local contractor brought in his double axle silage trailer with broken stub axle to fix

full commercial axles same as a lorry trailer rated at 11.5 ton each and i will observe the welding zone for hangers in the manufacture instructions
