Saw this over Easter on TV (BBC iPlayer)
Watched it at the cinema the first time in December 1979.

An entire film (almost) made entirely for a song written in 1967, some12 years before the film was released;
An un-fecking-believable piece of music!

Here in its entirety:
Long live Jim Morrison - The Lizard King!

Waiting for the Summer rain.

It's not often you hear songs like that on the radio.
Radio Caroline. 648 metres medium wave, DAB digital and on-line play the Doors regularly.

My 1992 Ford 7740 picks it up clear as a bell at Moreton-in-Marsh, with its original MW,LW radio.
Nothing else will though:(

Not from a radio this time, but a South Warwickshire Hub quiz night music question where just the first few Bars of a Tune were played, that took place on Friday evening.

We didn’t actually hear who sung it. Some will have written Stereophonics, others Rod Stewart, but all knew the song itself’s name.

This was a strange quiz insofar that question who’s answers were thought too easy scored a minus figure.
In this case -5!

But I bet very few knew who the writer of it was, or that he, Mike d’Abo, was part Manfred Manns Earth Band.
How many points would that answer have earned?

Here is the story behind this amazing tune and the various bands, singers and TV programs it has been used for:
