What’s the best rear tyre size for the money and traction for haulage work?

I think we need a bit more info, vehicle, what’s it pulling, weight, on road/off road. Distance, ground conditions.

Farm tractor hauling 30 ton silage/manure mostly road running but fields are hilly terrain

650/65r42 are the cheapest big tyre for road work imo.

We like the 900/60/42 but feel the 710 give better traction. We haven’t ran 900 long enough

Wouldn't have thought so but don't know the science behind it. Wide tyres tend to have more sidewall deflection and scrub more when turning, both these things would act against tyre life.

Working on gathering that info currently...have been on trelloborg 710/ 70/42 for years, really amazing tire for our line of work, went to 710 75s and 900 60 42 on current fleet. Not seeing any difference at this point. Love the traction and stability the 900 tire has.

Jury's still out on that one, just got several units running bkt v flectos in 900 so early stages yet..but we like what we're seeing so far. Cheaper than trelleborgs, that's a plus, just have to get some hours on them now and see how they do. Definitely not going back to 710s here.

Yes price wise 750 vs 900 are pretty well similar on price

So trailer running nearly 12 tons over legal weight and you’re worried about best choice of tyres on the tractor.

here a 650 is usually better because roads are narrower in the uk and it save playing chicken with trucks and road side grips

with a 900 you are always having to slow down and pull over
