UK rapeseed, wheat area outlooks for 2023

Looks like more rapeseed and the same on wheat. Presumably barley area will suffer in the spring?

Can you still use Dursban over there? Banned here long ago and if RT found a trace of it we'd never sell another ton of wheat. Does the crop get exported to us?

Still using Durban . Wheres Red tractor when you need them @Grass And Grain
....ahh, but UK Flour Millers, Red Tractor and AIC say imports get extensive pesticide tested, so it'll all be OK

Above my pay grade to comment on use (or not) of a particular active in a particular country, but iirc EU are looking at putting zero MRL on pesticides that are banned in EU, so therefore effectively banning them on imports/ use in other countries who want to export to EU.

We could do the same of we wished.

It’s not used on a wide spread basis but can be used. It’s priced such that it’s only a last resort chemical. Also our recommendation on application rates are generally lower that Europe due to the heat dryer conditions and shorter season. If it Is used in wheat it will likely hit the world market. Canola is a much more regulated crop regarding chemical usage and residue traces. We do sign a declaration that covers variety and chemical usage for human grade crops delivered. Basically mean that if residues are found we are liable.

Lambda cyhalothrin. With this gone we are back to permethrin and clorpyophos Not spelt right but your get the drift. Sold as dursban here. its Like dropping a nuke and wipes out most things.

Thank you for the reply. Always interesting to know what others are doing and using in different countries for different or same issues.

I thin we are the last to get new chemistry here. When I came here 2o odd years ago folicure wasn’t fully registered. after a couple of years it was readily available but few used it or any fungicide. Folicure tilt bravo and dithane are still used on a large amount of acres. Some newer technology trickling thru now but it would still be light years behind Europe.
