All countries are free to use international waters. You seem to be missing that point or are you saying that shouldn't be allowed? China is more defensive, oh, so that is your excuse for building islands in territory that clearly is not theirs?

Just adopting BS views for kicks, but you have form for this.
I'm not missing any points I've said very clearly that China is more defensive and gets involved with conflicts a lot less than America.
The video I posted above would seem to support that.
That's all I'm saying.

"BS views for kicks" grow up.

China have a stated aim to take control of Taiwan, they make overtime military threats, of course their playing war games at sea in international waters is perfectly legal but only a fool wouldn't think it's a message to Taiwan, the USA have offered support, while some may say that Taiwan should be part of china the people who live don't want that, they have a right to decide just as the residents of any country does
The Taiwan thing seems to be a complicated relationship, perhaps similar to Russia Ukraine?
I'm no expert on it, I don't think anyone on here is. (Apart from the authority on everything of course) I think it's fair to say the US are using it as an excuse to push back against China and I don't think it's a good idea to believe everything our media say on the subject.
Both countries do questionable things to get their way.
China seems to stay out of the business of telling the rest of the world what to do though and their military is way more defensive than Americas. We are led to believe that we must spend billions to prevent them from invading the planet.
We are properly screwed if America turns against us.

The majority of the world, including the US and UK do not recognise Taiwan as an independent state. Once the chip manufacturing gets up to speed in the US, leaving them less dependent on Taiwan, it will be interesting to see if their presence in the South China Sea decreases.

Uncle SAM, domestic chips or not, will never want China to take Taiwans chip manufacturing expertise and facilities.

Even if Taiwan resolves itself peacefully there will quickly be another reason why the US military needs to spend more and other countries will too.

Time for Europe to build a European force bigger than the US, capable of defending itself against everyone?
They could leave NATO, kick the US out and take over all their bases.

Wonder if the US would let that happen?
