What prices are you getting for Glyphosate?

We're close to securing a good deal on Glyphosate for our collective deal joiners.

We just want to make sure the prices we're getting are the best prices available and stand up to other prices being quoted.

What are you currently getting quoted/or paying for glyphosate and for what quantity?

Thanks in advance everyone,
Ed

Meaning you are only prepare to undercut other prices just enough to make the sale. That’s pretty slimey.
Not at all.

We're still waiting for our supplier to let us know if we can go out with their price based on our volume.

It's also difficult providing a blanket price considering we work throughout the UK, so delivery, quantity and location all play a big factor.

Additionally anyone can get access to our collective deal price by joining the actual collective.

Sorry I do appreciate I am not signed up, but I thought the idea of Farmdeals was pure transparancy, why are you asking for prices being quoted by others, is that not a Dutch Auction just like the rest of the trade!!!

So they can price it just below other prices members can provide, and pocket the difference...?

This is unreal.

If a supplier can’t just put their product into a market and see if it sells, they’re pretty low. Asking us what we pay just to undercut our suppliers (and maximise what they can make out of us) is a pretty image-damaging method of doing business in a comparatively small (yet highly communicative) industry.

I don't think it's advantageous to squeeze every last penny out of pallets of glypho or full loads of urea to the middle of the country and then not really be interested in the more bespoke orders.

I’ve been buying all my chemicals of the same supplier for the last 40 years and have no intention of changing now as he has looked after me very well , if I need something asap he’ll be in my yard with in a hour or two usually don’t even ask price

meaning just like how the entire ag supply trade works ?

i reckon what @Farmdeals is actually doing is sense checking a deal it’s been offered so if it’s not good enough they can negotiate harder for its FARMERS

i reckon it would wise help them personally

That is only what a decent business man would do! or am I misunderstanding!

exactly - farmdeals is a business let’s not pretend otherwise BUT it is one set up to work on extremely low margins vs more traditional suppliers so if it can get the same prices as others it will ultimately end up the lowest cost option for the farmer

it does publish prices to its members but also runs collective ( group buys) where supply goes out to tender so price isn’t t known until the deal closes …… it’s such a glyphosate deal that is being sense checked here i believe ( although I’m not involved in its day to day running ). Ed asked me today if the price he was being quoted was good ….. i didn’t know so suggested he asked the helpful farmers of TFF as getting the best price for them is ultimately in their interest

we all know there is a lot in ag supply that’s “ sub optimal” for farmers. - these guys are genuinely trying to improve that

my own experience is prices are all over the place on some inputs - literally over 100% variations in prices quotes me for ahl1 seed last week for example

Totally agree with you no one has ever quoted me cheaper for the same products or offered the same service

the other quotes you get to compare must be getting a little impatient if you have bought nothing from them for 40 years now. ……. amazed they still quote or even pick the phone up
