Speaking to a man last week who has just done about 65k mles , mostly towing as he sells IW trailers and he said it had been totally bombproof, it hadn't even blown a light bulb. What are the ssangyongs like?

I read a bit about towing but life is too short to tow all the time and there's nothing like a motor that can put a grin on a grumpy farmers face than one that tows AND is fun to drive when not towing...
Other than this you could put the request in 'Which pick up should I buy' and how boring would that be......

2100Kg and with automatic there's no effort or lash on the transmission IMO.Oh I hear ya... but what's the tow on the Kuga?
And shades as your future's bright!I’ve always had a hankering for a Nissan Pathfinder. No idea how many of the OP’s boxes it would tick, but in black with dark windows and a bit of chrome........ ?

Break in half as commonly as the Navara (same chassis)
I certainly wouldn't buy a modren RR but a mk3 disco V6 is a fab tow motor and if you can affort to run a vehicle that will never ever exceed 25MPG then I'd say go for this. there is really nothing better but you have to put your hand in your pocket.
There is one alternative mind. A properly rebuilt galv chassis LR 110 van/rag-top with the lovely 300 series motor in. Food for thought.......

I went to St Petersburg a year or so ago and saw several 'immaculate' Nivas, not customised but restored with new paintwork and upholstery. Not out the showroom as original but many thousands of roubles invested. I wanted one

we have a choice here of 2008 disco 3 2.7v6 hse, and a high capacity 110 td5 pickup, both tow well with the 110 better on fuel by a fair bit than the disco.
however i am thinking of changing the disco for another landrover 90 tdi, and buying a car fo covering miles. cost of tax for non comercail disco is unreal.
if i had to choose between the two it would be whichever the trailer is on or closest to, yes more room in the 110 pickup would be nive but have done big miles without any issues when i get out. dont think there is anything to touch them for thier size, found it hard to beat the old trooper until we came to these two.

Can you guys get the Ford Everest over there?
Seem to be a few about round here now 3T ish towing capacity I think.
I like the Hyundai Santa Fe's but not sure how much they can tow.
Don't see many LandRover products down here, especially on farms.
Isuzu MU-X ?
Seems like Toyota are most popular here still, judging by all the farmers wife's that seem to drive them.
