I am sure this thread will have been done to death but if it has then I am not finding it.
What's the opinion on the best make and model to choose for making up to / around 2,000 small conventional hay bales per year, within a price of around £5-6k second hand?

There arent too many options now,Welger,JD or NH in that price range.Welger will be hardest to find and probably the best, but nowt wrong with either of the others.

Driving over the rows pulling them into lumps, not being able to see into the pick up as well and blockages being harder to clear.
From what I've read the output isn't anything spectacular either.
I've spent plenty of time driving over rows with a round baler but the intake is bigger and there's more options for clearing a blockage.
Transport width is an advantage but I've never failed to get a conventional baler into a field yet.

Iv never driven 1 eithrr but id of thought output would be better as not shifting material across, i also thought that would of left her not as likely to block aswel but im not sure

one that ties knots...

That feeling when it starts buggering about ,late afternoon, with rain coming 🤦‍♂️

Question about a nh baler. Wev a 575 that throws bannana bales, what would the problem be?

As mentioned in other posts, feeding them hard seems to help. Also packer location can play a part too. A few videos on the baler Facebook group showing NH balers being absolutely stuffed, but they producing some nice, well shaped bales.

tidy example more important than specific make🙂

Your learning James 😉
Didn't you have a nice John deere baler........🤐🙈😭😖

540rpm+. Being easy on it is why it is making bananas. Fill the chamber.
We tend to drive it on the easy side as when it breaks a shear its a right pain. What is tge optimim revs to be running at if that makes any difference
you need to set the baler properly then drive it on!!
i can usually make a baler banana bales both way either under or over feeding, you soon learn the sweet spot
