Ours was an ex building contractor who had gone bust, Mid 20k for daewoo/doosan 600 hours and quick hitch plus 5 buckets

My vote is a volvo 140. We had hitachi before and thers no comparrison between the 2 diggers the volvo would pull the hitachi in bits and is easier on the juice

ive got a x 'a plant' jcb,(much smaller 6 tonne) its good but the engine in it is one of the wierd perkins n/a engines where the inlet is part of the cam cover so it burns oil. also its not had new pins that long and there beggining to get a bit of slop...

there were loads at euro auctions and it was cheap so i dont think it was too bad!

Other than that its good and has been extremely reliable and simple to maintain over a 1000 hours.

The one I was looking at was the dx140lcr which I presume is just reduced swing.

Ive only heard about swing limiters ,,think its used on machines on street works jobs to prevent encroaching on traffic lanes

I was looking at this, but the distance put me off been 5h away makes viewing a pita! May put it back on the short list.

Zero tail swing ,,PITA ,,the developers here not long bought a new 14tn Volvo ,,heavier track frame to compensate the shorter counterbalance ,,no cab space ,terribly unstable ,,they lifted a 6ft concrete ring and it lurched over ,,they hate it

Not spoke to them so would have to make sure it’s still available, I’d definitely go and look before money changed hands. Just hoping to find something closer to home, keep the travelling and transport costs down a little.

If you have the cash, buy an Hitachi then sell it once you have finished. With your skills buy a cosmetically rough one and do it then sell it for a profit and get your digger work done FOC

The transport costs will be minimal. Plenty of irish lads in the mainland would shift it for handy money
