665?

I’d have a Valmet over a Massey any day,yes not as ergonomic but an extremely well made tractor for its size.
Probably 665, blue color that looked great compared to the usual red. It gave very little trouble, but was a nightmare to run for long days. We ran it when our 390 was in the workshop, so 1 to 2 times per year. :cautious:

About 10 years ago I won a years use of a simba x press. Got given it officially at the Lamma show in Newark. It was a bit useless on a direct drill farm so only did about 100acres in the year. Must’ve lost them some money as it was stored outside all year. I think the idea is you are supposed to think you can’t do without it and buy it after the year at ex demo price!

Yes but have you ever driven one?. The old K700 model weighs about 17 tons and has just enough power to drag itself along. Was a great clumsy awkward thing. Saw plenty in Ukraine pulling chain harrows that could have been handled by a MF 135. My agronomist often commented that the Russian kit was designed to create compaction and destroy soil moisture.

The Kirovets was originally designed as a dual purpose machine. It's other job was hauling artillery across the steppes in times of war.

A farmer I know has won the lottery twice, around 30k and 50k not huge amounts by lottery standards but still substantial. Been struck by lightening as well a couple of times iirc.

I won a penknife in, I think, a farmers weekly competition when I was about 13. I think I was trying to win a lorry load of fertilizer but it was better than nothing I suppose.
In our local co-ops centenary open day I won a voucher for £50 worth of elanco products. We needed some wormer so dad used it that afternoon and bought enough wormer to do all the lambs. Hadn't bought any elanco stuff in years usually buy cheap generic stuff from somewhere else so was a bit of a shock when the wormer was more expensive with the voucher than generic stuff would have been without one :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Was in the last 6 to win a Massey tractor in the FW when the 3000 range came out. did not win.
Won a Vaderstad Carrier 500.at an open night a few years ago, found it a bit small and light to do any good.

Uncle won a Keenan feeder about 20 years ago. It was only the smallest model so he paid extra for a more suitable sized one. Part of the deal was that they did your nutrition for 12 months to show how good their system was. Was no accident he was drawn out as there was plenty of scope to push yields higher with there old system.
He still runs Keenan feeders so it was probably worthwhile for Keenans.

Would you keep it? Big discount on it now it’s second hand ;)

Its something I wouldnt normally consider as it really is a bit of a kuxury, and not an "essential " but a deal has been done and its staying here.
I just thought what the hell, it is a fantastic bit of kit and it has been used a lot, It has made a lot of my tractor driving much more enjoyable.

You, me and 4 others then! I was in the last 6 too. So near and yet so far. I can even remember the tie breaker that eventually won it .
" A thoughtful farmer needs a thinking tractor". I wonder if that 3070 is still running?

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
