We are harsh, aren't we :D
To all the NFU lurkers on here, a reminder of the mantra by which all membership organisations should operate: All criticism is constructive :)
Nothing more than the comment she would get from a dry old down to earth, commonsense , practical, unappreciative of time wasting or money..........
farmer at an 'out of way deep in the depths of the countryside ' loacal grass roots meeting ... amid nods and mumbles of agreement.

But quicker .

Didn't hear it, but if they were that good then the NFU and AHDB should be giving them a healthy retainer to be available as spokespeople for farming whenever the media need someone. Would be the best value for money of levy/ membership fees I can think of.

It was Minette on R4 You & Yours. We took your advice last year and elected her president! But you are quite right - she’s excellent!

Europa Cup final tonight, two teams from London flying to Azerbaijan for 90 minutes. However many followers and supporters going too - the stadium holds 70,000+ people. How much CO2 does that event cause compared to cattle?

As per our tweet last week, blame is all too easy to apportion. While we as farmers must acknowledge where we can improve and implement change. 90% of emmision come from none farming sources and everyone one of the people in thye world and certainly the 70 million in the UK must play their part too. From air flights to better light bulbs.

It all depends how you measure it. The original claim that livestock had a much bigger role was from a UN report which turned out to use a "whole life approach" for livestock (so, for example, included the CO2 involved in manufacturing machinery used to farm livestock and the CO2 used in the food packaging but only a direct approach for transport (only included the emissions at the point each journey was made) . Even the UN had now corrected the mistake to the figures above but vested interest groups (and the BBC) keep quoting the original figures. :banghead:
