as of today at 5pm we have had 185mm of rain in january so far plus 117 mm in december and im more or less level with you albeit east which would normally be drier, this is the highest total for january that im aware of 166 being the highest before in 35 years but the norm/average is about 40-45so we have had 300mm which in old money is a foot when total for most years has been around under 30inch, and the land is saturated as it has never been before in my time here and despite crops well sown /established they are now starting to suffer and with this wet there is feck all i can do to help them as the soil temps are very low
just thought I would show you some dust in case you forgot what it looks like

I've taken my rain gauge inside! It always splits when it turns cold and freezes. -4 at 10.30 this morning. Frosts well into the ground now. Will take a fair bit of heat to thaw out. Especially in bits behind trees that don't get sun.

Ground coming up in slabs and losing skim boards trying to plough it. Given up.

wetter winters since 2000

before that winter was colder a dry with some snow

The North Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation moved from a cold phase to a warm phase around the millennium. Since that change we have had far more wet weather, both winter and summer, as a warmer sea surface temperature in the North Atlantic promotes low pressure systems and westerly winds driving them across the UK.

2c here with a high of 4c later!!!🥵

East Anglia outlook:
Status: Yellow - Rain

Forecast: Patchy light rain and drizzle quickly clearing away to the east this morning. Cloudy in the south for much of the day, but skies clearer to the north during the evening, where a frost is possible before cloud builds later. A band of rain will move into western parts of the region during the early hours and spread east to all parts of the region by the end of the period. Some brief sleet is possible across Norfolk/ Cambridgeshire

We had 1060mm in 2019, 1215mm in 2020 and 164mm so far in 2021. It was just starting to dry up a little but another 15.5 mm last night has dampened the dust down again 🤦‍♂️

Currently 5c here this morning with fine rain with a giddy height of 11c forecast for later today🥵.

East Anglia Forecast:
Status: Yellow - Rain

Forecast: Rain, with sleet or perhaps wet snow briefly in the far north, spreading north-east this morning, clearing away from north-eastern parts of the region by around midday. Turning milder later with scattered showers, with some heavy showers possible later in the afternoon, and a more organised areas of showers, some large in extent and prolonged, during the evening. The showers on Tuesday could bring the risk of an odd lightning strike. Showers are expected to die away overnight. 24 hour rainfall totals of around or just above 10mm are possible in the north of the region, most likely in Norfolk and north Suffolk
