Inflation

If inflation really does start to take off maybe we should not worry about interest rates. Everyone seems to agree that raising rates might cause too much pain.

Would the government be able to control inflation to some extent through taxation??

The biggest best appreciating asset of land can bite back , it’s been know to drop in value ! And currently it’s very very valuable imo more chance going down than up you could buy an acre and loose four !
However whilst the currency is devaluing land will be seen to appreciate.

Land isn’t becoming more valuable,in fact just more desirable.

It’s the pound in your pocket which is becoming ‘worth less’ or ‘worthless’.

Well let’s just say land is very very desirable today for one reason or another , tomorrow it might not be so desirable.

Interesting to hear you say this.

HSBC are estimating a minor rise at the start of next year, and then two small rises after 6 and 12 months.
Yeah, I'm not sure Clive's caught the boat on this one. That time has passed. Unless of course we get 2007/2008 for real this time.

i guess we will find out - BOE have a tricky task ahead, they need to keep a lid on inflation (raise rates) but they need to kick start struggling businesses and keep people spending (lower rates )

There was a commodity spike 07/08 ish, then look what happened.

We could be at the beginning of another commodity spike.

Guy who lives next to some of our land works in Iraq as a project manager in an oil refinery. He is certain we will have a commodity spike, was telling me a couple of months back.

Maybe what we are seeing is the first spin in the spiral.

I hope not as everyone has had a bum deal over the last 18 months so just need a break.

Fair call.

Iraq, Syria, Yemen, large areas of each are a pile of rubble. All to rebuild if we are to stop a World migration, That's without all the natural disasters still to happen.

Think we're past the beginning of a commodity spike. How far it goes is anyone's guess.
