Nobody falling over themselves to do a trade deal with Brexit Blighty, is there? Too small and can’t be trusted to keep the deal in any case. That is a very good question, how do you want to benchmark the economic impact of Brexit? I think it is not fair to look solely at the economic standings in isolation as there are countries in Asia, South America and Africa that are growing at way higher rates than mature economies in the West. I think it is much more useful to compare the UK with other European countries.
In 2015/6 the UK economy was one of the best preforming economies in Europe, competing up there with Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden etc. In 2020/1 the UK has one of worst preforming economies, competing down there with Italy, Spain and Greece.
