What a sad state of affairs, looks like we will lose our best ally in Government

Tragic.
I've watched the videos of some of those committes/enquiries he's chaired and he's certainly pulled no punches in defending agriculture.

Been a bloody good bloke to have had on our side.

It's not looking too good for him at the moment.

I hope it can be 'sorted' as I don't know where our next ally will come from.

My money is one someone sent him one of those WhatsApp videos that looks like something then either has that terrible porn whining sound at full volume or that massive black man with his member out, been had in many a inappropriate place with those, not the House of Commons though.
That‘s what I reckon, hopefully he didn’t airplay it to the tele on the wall.

I have to say that there is something fishy going on and it could be a stitch up.

Firstly, somebody has hacked Wikipedia and altered what it says about him with a link to a porn site. I looked at it before I wrote my post number 4 and it has definitely been hacked!
Secondly, he isn’t half playing it cool, by doing TV interviews, saying it is highly embarrassing not only to him, but his family.
Thirdly, to me much as I have had my doubts about the way he goes about chairing various PAC meetings, he seems to me to be just about the last MP who would deliberately do such a thing!!

You're clearly not aware that anyone can change wikipedia. That's the whole point of it.

I can't believe the people seemingly defending him, regardless of if he is a rare ally to the cause of farming.

The fact is he's been caught viewing inappropriate content at work where he's trusted to be a responsible and accountable figure, like the rest of the sorry state of politicians sitting on all sides of the chamber at the moment. It's yet another damning indictment on the people running the country and can't go unpunished.

If it's something his mates have sent him, why not leave it till after work or (even better) have separate work and personal mobiles like lots of people do in office jobs. If it's a tab he's opened on the internet, just close it rather than leaving it open long enough for anyone to see, and ideally don't be so desperate to watch it that you can open it accidentally in the first place.

I'm not saying it's a sackable offense, especially considering the honesty he's provided on the situation, but it's simply not good enough.

I thought the purpose of porn was to become aroused but why there, or was it more about doing something you knew you shouldn't in a public place, or was it a power trip on female MP's? I can not believe he did not know he was seen. All of them are totally inappropriate. If you are not smart enough to know you do not look at this sort of thing at work, did someone really complain about Raynors legs being crossed, and being distracting, are you good enough to be there?

I resent paying for someone who is supposed to be working, behaving like they at home, this includes, JRM, they are all a bit too comfy, and seem to think its like being at boarding school, but we are paying the fees, for it seems very little work.

From the BBC report;

"It emerged on Wednesday that a female minister had reported seeing a male Tory MP viewing pornographic material while sitting beside her in the Commons chamber.
A second female Tory MP said she had tried but been unable to capture video proof of him doing so"

One would imagine a fairly brief examination of the phone and its history would clarify things.

Would it be a problem if he just happened to be catching up on a particularly raunchy bit of Bridgerton?

I understand that the timetable for the House of Commons is such that MP's have to routinely wait for long periods until the discussion they wish to partake in arises. I think we all get our phones out when we have time to kill.
Watching porn is not an acceptable way to pass time in public but there are a variety of reasons why 'raunchy' material might be displayed while scrolling around on a phone.
I think it is a greater worry how phones could be used in parliament for espionage, insider trading and direct lobbying.

I certainly don't know the ins and outs of this case but it seems you lost an ally.

What is worrying is that MPs are actually permitted to use their cellphones while 'sitting in the house' - in most meeting situations you're asked to turn them off so you can focus on the business being discussed, and use them on your breaks.

Why is it acceptable to use your phone in the house of commons if it's unacceptable in a courtroom situation?
Regardless of what you're doing on it, while using it; shouldn't MPs be present to what is being discussed, if that's what they're elected to do?
