any ideas whats best machine to move a wert swath of straw, just thinking ahead in case it ge'st a bit damp !!!
thats what ive been doing , even tried a swath wilter did one field and went on ebay !!!!!spread it out with a tedder, then row it back up when dry.
unless you have a 10ft header anything else is a waste of diesel.
Leaves half of it behind, breaks up and is a pia for the following crop. Doing nothing would be my advice.spread it out with a tedder, then row it back up when dry.

Due you use the acrobat to dry your hay?Acrobat

Your right but your pic your combine looks similar size to ours these rotary 40ft ones never dryLeaves half of it behind, breaks up and is a pia for the following crop. Doing nothing would be my advise.
If it is drying and it looks favourable to bale run through with the hay Bob a day or so before but don’t bother if you know you won’t get it.
Forage harvester.Chop it........
Removed the centre paddle on ours and it tackles most swathes. We get on just fine with an old hay Bob but our combine is only 22ft straw Walker machine. Big rotarys are a different story
Yes we have done the same it’s got no gates on the back eitherRemoved the centre paddle on ours and it tackles most swathes.
I remember having the job years ago, to chop about 200ac of straw off an early Rotary combine, that the straw buyer had not taken seriously when told to crack on and bale it.... several tedding passes had not dried it out.Your right but your pic your combine looks similar size to ours these rotary 40ft ones never dry
I use the same, very low revs are the secret, gently moving it over.Single rotor rake did a great job for us last year, 25ft header combine and short straw.
no but if you want roll straw upside down and onto dry stubble there are worse things, would choose it over a haybob anyday.Due you use the acrobat to dry your hay?
We did that for years but it was behind a12ft cut Clayson, with nice long straw and hot dry spells.no but if you want roll straw upside down and onto dry stubble there are worse things, would choose it over a haybob anyday.
We have a single rotor rake now which is very good
If its not too big a swath of straw the old Acrobat is hard to beat to flip the whole swath upside down on a dry bit of stubble.Acrobat
