A rake either single or twin rotor .

I find twin better as you can move it all so any wind gets at the wet side of it better where the single half the field goes a different way but it's better than a haybob and definitely better than a swathwilter

I remember having the job years ago, to chop about 200ac of straw off an early Rotary combine, that the straw buyer had not taken seriously when told to crack on and bale it.... ;) several tedding passes had not dried it out.

Horrible machines on straw...
I’ve only done 20 acres with a demo rotary combine but from what I can see you can make good straw by slowing the rotors but it comes at the cost of output.

With care you can split a big straw swath in two with a haybob - bit more manageable.
As someone has already said, don't do anything unless you are fairly sure you will get it - rain plus turned straw usually equals wet muck.

Twin rotor rake works well if the combine had a big enough header allowing you to get down 'between' the swaths with it sensibly, meaning you can move the swath nicely on to dry ground.

I would not ted swath out as the cultivator or drill man may want to find you and kill you.

If you want it dried quick, you can’t beat spinning if out with a tedder and then rowing it up again. But you lose a lot of crop in the stubble and two passes.

If you have time, wait till it’s dry on top and then turn it over onto dry ground. Cheapest, strongest machine you can get. Its hard to beat a single rotor rake or a wuffler style as long as it can move it sideways onto the dry ground. A lot cheaper as saves a pass and you lose less.
