Idea's thread for manufacturers

Why can’t the genuine CAT part be made in China? Half the parts in the original machine will be made in there.
CAT is the all American success story. A household name and renounced for its long heritage of reliability and longevity. Not a Chinese knockoff. It did fit perfect and was identical to the original. It’s just I was surprised it was made in China.

I’d like to see manufacturers stock the dealer shelves with parts so availability isn’t a few days away and we then pay for shipping because it’s not part of a stock order. Seems now everything is in a central parts store the other side of the country. claas dealer here will now fill a crate with consumables and what ever parts you want and sit it on farm for free. Then at end of the season pay for what’s been used.

You're not going to get away with non emissions compliant engines in the UK but everything else you want exists. Depending on the size most manufacturers have a basic tractor.
Not many people order basic tractors in the UK but I'm fairly sure you could if you wanted to.
A "basic" tractor isnt really available anymore in anythin over 120hp in the uk

That is a good idea especially for those running a spfh

So very true, even stuff like filters and the like...

I looked at a new 95hp tractor 3 years ago and was quite keen on another Kioti as the spec was what I wanted, and I know the build quality is excellent. However, all the parts are held in Holland now which dissuaded me from having it, as even then it took 2-3 days, and that was BEFORE all the Brexit crap got in the way.

That would be nice. Consignment parts. Even if it was consignment on a designated farm in each area.

grimme can be hard work here. Have to be very lucky to get parts next day. Most likely 2-3 days. Also the importer don’t carry much stock here and a lot of parts will be stock ordered from Germany each Tuesday. They also don’t have dealers preferring to retail from the importer almost 600 km away

Good idea 😁 Might be a better option than holding the transistor radio to one ear.
Many, many moons ago, when I first started work, I fitted a car radio in my DB 1212, but instead of speakers, I connected the audio output to a set of headphones. Worked suprisingly well!

If you used noise cancelling headphones, then even better!!

The dealer who we use for the combine has a second hand parts “library”. It’s a fantastic idea.

He’s got a stock of less common 2nd hand “bits” from scrapped/burnt machines in a container that wouldn’t typically be stocked. so if you end up with say a buggered wobble box, gear box, sieve actuator, loss monitor etc etc, chances are he’s got something similar on the shelf to bolt on to keep you going while you wait the overnight/2/3 day delivery. Reckon it saved us about 2 days cuttting last year when we had a run of angled gearboxes fail on our NH.

Not an idea for manufacturers but an idea for dealers is to train your sales reps to use the diagnostic equipment, if some all ready don't. The time that would save already overstretched mechanics and fitters would be unreal. Just my view though
isn't that a bit like seeing the practice nurse instead of the doctor and we all know how that is turning out.

Having had a Sales rep from a local company attempt to resolve a problem with a new baler and totally FU, I cannot say that idea would fill me full of happiness.

As above. Those small details that would make a machine more user friendly.
Yes I know I could install this myself but....also realize today's machines are a major improvement over what our forefathers dealt with....
Anyway.... why can't I have an outlet for phone char4ger behind the passenger seat....and factory installed nonslip cladding... View attachment 1055044
