Considering one of these machines, just wandering on other peoples experiences with them? The dealership for manitou has far better service and backup than jcb in our area!! Don't know much about the manitou but I hear many complaints about ad blue problems from jcb owners.
Many Thanks!

Currently have an 2006 TM300 with 6500hrs. Hardly missed a beat to be fair, brilliant machine! 1000-2000 hr second hand would be the ideal choice, not many second hand manitou's about. Andy mellor seems to have loads of jcb's on his yard. Having a demo manitou in january.
Riverlea are good!

I’m no help really as I’ve got neither but I do fancy the manitou pivot steer to replace our old matbro but the price is fairly steep in comparison to a rigid machine. When we had our 635 it was £88k I think at the same time the pivot was about £110k

Most the early new bendy vario manitou around us have had a transmission after pump failure. Riverlea have looked after them and all seem to be fine now.
must be 6 of them local to us,I would say jcb hold of the market is shrinking in our area mainly due to price and back up from the dealer your aware of 😂 Also a lot of bobcat machines are pushing jcb out.

Large local farm had a succession of 320s, got a MLA now after been told of a long wait. Headstock fallen off, Riverlea probably on the case!

Bought a manitou MLA last week to replace a JD 3800. Manitou has1400 hrs was available now, couldn’t get a new jcb until Mar/April and couldn’t get a low houred one. Had manitou on demo for a few weeks and it definitely grows on you with the CVT transmission. Better visibility than JCB. We’ve had manitou side booms for about 10 years and a have an excellent dealer locally.
Not sure if it will do the 15000 hours the JD managed.

I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago & bought the manitou, mainly down to the local jcb dealer being poor & the manitou dealer being very good, the manitou was also much cheaper than the jcb think it was about £30k cheaper! Think it’s done about 1500 hours now with no major issues, seems to have plenty of power & the cab does feel bigger compared to tm (not sure if it actually is or not) I’ve driven both & wasn’t blown away by the tm, there’s improvements that should be made on the manitou, the heater controls on that stupid scroll menu is ridiculous but apart from that can’t find much else to fault it on, would definitely buy another

We've run a series of Matbros, then a TM300 JCB that we put 12000hrs on in 15yrs with very little bother. Before it came we demo'd Terex, JD3800, Manitou & JCB. No contest. The Manitou back then lacked reach (rather than height) due to the backplate being in line with the front of the axle, rather than front of the tyres at full height. Otherwise not bad, if not as well screwed together as the JCB.
In 2020 we decided to upgrade the TM, and once again demo'd Mainitou. We all universally thought the JCB was better, in every way. Build, drivability, comfort, reach, ground clearance, accessibility and down right performance. The hydro on the Manitou is a pain for jobs like loading bales in fields, or anything where both speed and precision are called for. Nowt in them price wise, and I'd be pretty sure that the yellow one will be worth more down the line. Both dealers decent so not a factor here.

Wat- surely a hydrostatic transmission will give you better precision and control than a tQ?

Not in a practical way, no. The Manitou has a big dial where one sets the maximum speed, which for precision (placing bales on a trailer, inching up to a lorry, filling a spreader, filling a grader etc) one would set quite low. However, if one has distance to travel between bucketfuls (long shed, field olading etc) then the precise speed is far too slow to get on. Set fast its rev rev rev whoooaa! Just a ballache to drive, particularly with multi drivers. That semi auto powershift in the TM is superb. Don't need the hassle or cost of a DualTech thanks. Simple = best

I had a JCB 320 for several years and now have about 1500 hrs on a manitou 533 with absolutely no problems ( sensor or two initially) I find the transmission on the red much superior to the jcb (similarly paintwork) because it’s for a start same speed backwards as forwards unlike the jcb and much smoother than changing gears ,speed dial is not an issue I only use if at 20km speed keeps it from changing up ,can also use it on silo pit to give more revs/km climbing but definitely no problem inching .Only problem at start is getting used to no free wheeling, visibility is much superior in manitou over the one door jcb and it has an air con unlike jcb which does work ,I leave it on automatic and do not find the controls an issue ,would I buy manitou or jcb definitely would be the manitou and yes the dealer is good which is reassuring 👍
