Those of us with large areas of PP that is well managed and using mostly Ryegrass and Clover with minimal inputs only seem to have the option of low input grassland at £151 per ha.
Lots of talk...

It is very noticeable this Summer that the insect populations are down. I hardly see a moth in the grassland for the terriers to chase, and insects coming into the house in the evening when the window gets left open are actually rare....

What's your opinion on this (from the Sun's Twitter page) ? Where a farmer sprays a camper/cyclist with slurry.
Whilst the farmer's frustration is probably valid, I'm not sure that his reaction and possible assault in respect of a civil matter is doing farming any favours.
Thoughts?

As above, which tractor or series of tractors would people recommend taking up into big hours? But also to consider is that as the machine gets on in age, how cost effective will it be to keep repairing computer controlled functions and exhaust aftertreatment systems? In my experience it's not...

Hi all,
This is probably going to be one of those weird threads.
So first, a bit of context. I’m an electrical engineering/robotics student here in the UK. As a part of my studies I have to design and ultimately build a robot that has real world applications. Most of my classmates are...
As above.
I ask as the rebranding of old farming techniques/ practices seems to be all part of 21st century farming hype, created by academics etc( even some younger farmers), thinking they are thinking out of the box. :banghead: ;)
Not good as in all honesty It’s not taking farming forward as...
Got some permanent pasture that's pretty tired and I don't have much use for, I was planning on planting rape so as to avoid issues with leatherjackets/wirework, then following with wheat next year.
The whole block needs liming and has just been silage, my question is would I be best trying to...

Thought a few might be interested in this. Not entirely surprising, except perhaps the scale of it.
Storage space limited this year so would like to go higher. Can you go too high and put too much pressure on the bottom bales making them squash and split perhaps ???
