3 metre power harrow options

How does the maschio DM3000 compare to the KE or KX amazone and the 3004 Kuhn, strength wise?
It's a good few years since we had the maschios but they were ok, never seen a KX but have had both KE and KG amazon, Kuhn and KG on a par, maschio not far off and KE softest of the 3, if your not doing a lot and not many stones KE will do but it wouldn't be my first choice

Hi, looking to buy my first and only power harrow ever hopefully. Just to do 100 acre grass to grass reseeds a year. 170hp tractor, no too many stones apart from a few higher fields.

New kuhn 3004 £11500
Amazone ke 3000 super £9500
Can hardy justify the above.

Reconded 25ish year old kuhn 3002 £6500.

Or ive found a 2012 maschio dm3000 which hasnt been in the soil for £6000.

any thoughts, particularly on the maschio that i have no experience of?

Thanks
If you are planning on keeping it a long time I would go with the new kuhn as the recon one is 25 yrs old before you start and will become obsolete from a parts objective
The amazone Ke is a lighter build machine go Kg to compare to kuhn
Maschio I have no knowledge of but well regarded but again if keeping a long time parts for kuhn will be a safer option.
On the other hand just buy a cheap old machine for your job as long as it runs up smoothly it will do your job for years plenty good harrows about and nowadays they don’t give a lot of bother

If you’ve got £11,500 burning a hole in your pocket and no possible other use for it then go for it otherwise an Andrew Guest recon will do exactly the same job…. In fact a 4 metre with an end tow kit ….

Lemken is popular round here seem well made
Mate has a Kuhn same as ourselves, last spring it done in a bearing & he got a neighbours Lemken to finish off, said good enough harrow but it hit the stones & kicked them around more, then left them on the top of the ground, the Kuhn tends to hit them once or twice then push them down into the ground, must be down to the shape of the tines.

Down to the number of rotors per metre

Yes a lemken will push a large stone infront of it. I just assumed they all done that 🙊

Why play around with a 3 meter harrow, get a 4 meter with that power of tractor .loader and pallet forks and they load easily onto a trailer, picking up by the headstock A bracing. Time saved in the field will more than do up for the hassle of unhitching and loading.just start putting wider gateways in as the posts rot...

What are the soil conditions, and how hard is it to make a seed-bed for grass-seeds.

Packer roller is a must, bigger dia the better.

Maschio has more rotors per meter than Khun and Amazone, so a better tilth for the same rotor speeds. Rotors should run as slow as possible to keep blade wear down, however this plus adjustment of the clod bar behind the rotors should be set so you can hopefully get the job done in one pass.

As long as you haven't a drill hanging on the back of it...

I would buy a 4 metre too. Would need a trailer too for the farm track. Just haven't seen a fresh one at similar money yet.
