Lamb display in Aldi Ludlow today, all had a barcode sticker conveniently obscuring most of the NZ flag, while leaving enough Union Jack ….. complete Gangsters

Larry Goodman will be furious about that - he'll be onto ABP Shrewsbury (for that's where he cut and packed it - GB4109).

If they'd been more careful in how they'd placed the barcode sticker they should have been able to cover all the NZ flag's stars and the bit where it actually says, "New Zealand", thus fully disguising it's origin.

I'd seriously like my meat to be truly traceable. Not just origin but breed at least. More if it will fit on the label. I shop for my own groceries and I can assure you, Red Tractor is something I ignore as I can't see the relevance, sorry lads!

Long thought it would be interesting if supermarkets had to put food miles on packaging. 🫤
A superb idea that I share, if only we had an industry-wide organisation to promote UK Ag...

Joking apart, I have written to my MP, the SOS, my MS and Lesley Griffiths (Welsh Ag 'minister') and half a dozen others suggesting this and got... nowhere... the simple truth is we need cheap foreign food to keep coming in and, although food miles are ever so important in this environmentally friendly world, some things are more so...

That written, if you want it done, get Labour to put it in their manifesto, the Tories will then have to match it, so it will at least be on the table regardless of who is in government. 😐

The funny thing is if this had been in Tesco there would have been 10 pages by now & the bonfire would’ve been lit.
If they’d all been like this would people say it was fine & not misleading?View attachment 1158848
That one doesn't look so good in all honesty.

However, it does suggest that they were all just slapped on at random, if it had been a concerted effort to mislead surely they'd all have been put on in a similarly purposeful fashion?
