Nothing new, been done by RBS for a good while now. And they get it spectacularly wrong too. From memory, Harbro and ECV were both categorised as “eating out”, and some gift vouchers for Amazon that I bought in Morrisons was “food”.
Crock of ****

Was talking to a chap in the insurance industry the other day. Won’t say what company but they do a lot of agricultural insurance. He was saying both the bank and insurance industry are looking at the carbon footprint of their portfolios and seeing agriculture account for c10% of their investments but c35% (think I’ve got those figures as he said them) of their carbon footprint. They are starting to ask if they should be funding such a “dirty industry” especially, you guessed it, red meat!

This is the problem with using outdated, inaccurate metrics to account for ag emissions. We are going to get screwed from another direction if we aren’t careful, and this (above) will be part of it I suspect.

We need to do more carbon ordits of uk farms to get accurate data rather than using the few generic Audits done over seas
I am certain the uk livestock industry using locally sourced feed brewer grains biofuel ddg grass and forage from clover rich leys could compete in terms of carbon foot print
just as the uk cereal industry could with wheatabix shredded wheat and other breakfast cereals biscuits cakes and bread all produced close to the processing factory

I think we need to fight against the whole carbon economy altogether, you're trying to fight them at a game they’ve made up entirely themselves. The whole thing is a massive massive scam.
