The initial steering groups details will be available shortly.
The details couldn't be released until the first official meeting and full agreement had been passed ...which it was.
I imagine once the minutes have been written up then it will be on the BFU website .

How many are parting with 2 or 3 hundred quid to RT and are complaining about them .....but are reluctant to spend a tenner on an organisation that might well be able to bring RT to reality again .....amongst other things .

Just join up and help from within rather than criticise from without .

Of course, like the NFU, it will require members to get off their arsed and get involved. Not just paying subs and the complaining the organisation doesn’t represent them.

Just saying…

To a degree.

If I pay a tenner to a fledgling organisation, I expect to do some leg work.
When I paid £400+ to a long established union, I expected them to have a good idea what my interests were.

Iv got a feeling, hope im wrong mind that the nfu will dig their heels in against the BFU incase it upsets their gravy train.

The NFU can’t do anything about it. They have no control over who joins a union even if the person is also an Nfu member.

Once BFU’s numbers are up at significant levels then the weakness of the Nfu will be fully shown. They’ve less than 15,000 farmer members presently so it won’t be long before the BFU is the biggest ‘farmer only’ union in the country.

Local MP’s are receptive already and as said roads into Westminster are in process.

The NFU will become the union for none farming members such as processors and supermarkets etc.

All I'll say is that at some point you will need to engage/include the corporate/processor side of industry. Otherwise the sum of your achievments will be zero in the political world as you'll struggle to gain the necessary connections and NFU will try hamstring BFU at every opportunity.

I very much doubt any BFU member will want any of the processors, retailers, corporates or supply industry companies as actual members. Once the BFU has the numbers on it's side, it can engage with these organisations and say: 'we represent the interests of X thousand farmers'. I am sure this will give the necessary leverage for any required connections.

The NFU can't do anything about the BFU. There is no law that says an industry can only be represented by one organisation.

The whole point of BFU is that it will only ever be farmer members. There won’t be any associate members.

This is why the Nfu has failed so badly because it’s pandering to it’s none farming members who are the majority of its membership. It’ll have to change its name soon.

I hope the BFU will look into insurance for UK farms.

We need a better deal than what is offered by the NFU and insurance brokers.
