Interesting post. I was going to ask if anyone had ideas about post ramps. Some are cheap second hand. What's worth it for small use.

I bought myself a single post car lift for these kinda jobs, doesn't need bolted down plugs into a standard plug and can be wheeled about when empty.
Not the cheapest (2k ish probably 5 years ago) but it's a proper lift wit all the safety doda's and will last me forever

Did a clutch in a Discovery once, parked on two 12"x6" RSJs bridged between 2 flatbed trailers.
Bought a 4t 2 post ramp new about 5yrs ago, only about £1300. Which makes a mockery of some of the worn out unsafe EBay junk.
Buy a proper lift, I promise you will use it, everything so much easier

yes agree .
but a single mobile one as mentioned above would mean not having to bolt down etc

Have one of those myself. Owned for ten years. Has had new balance cables and hydraulic pump in that time. All parts kept in stock and available for next day delivery. Would definitely recommend these for a budget vehicle lift

This reminds me of an old guy many years ago,
He had no lift, and needed clutch doing, he got loadall and a chain on towbar of car, lifted car up by tow bar and chains onto rear axle stood it on end had stands on front wheels, was perfect hight to work on, and gear box dropped on to save the fight of lining up the shaft

But not recommended

Has it got a tow hitch? Hang it up with the telehandler , that's what I used to do with the land rover.. easy then to remove the transfer box then gearbox, and get at the clutch..
