Charlock control in OSR

Got a block of OSR that unfortunately has charlock in it which came in the seed:(.
I’ve got some Fox to put on to take it out which I was planning on putting on tomorrow as due to be. -4 tonight, then -3 tomorrow night.
Just wondering though how cold it needs to get down to for frosts to kill it naturally as it’s early in the season to be putting this on and maybe I could leave it and hope it dies in some future keener frosts later in the Winter. Should I spray or not?, It’s a HOLL variety which attracts a £40/ton premium but obviously this charlock is going to affect the euricic acid levels if left alone.

Apply the Fox with a litre of oil and a fine spray of at least 200 litres/ha. You need excellent coverage to dewax the charlock.

Don't forget to print off a copy of the EAMU and write cranesbill on the justification for the recommendation.

For future reference, Belkar gives charlock a real headache. It won't kill it but it will set it back considerably. Of course it is too late to apply Belkar now.

Decided to leave it for the time being, was -5 last night so hopefully that will maybe kill it off?
There’s still 3 months of winter to go and we do normally get a few cold sum minus temps so will monitor and apply if necessary. I have got oil to go with the Fox.
It did receive 0.25l Belkar back in late September but it certainly didn’t touch the charlock, was pretty poor on the mayweed as well!.

Out of interest, what made you use Belkar in September and not just Astrokerb now?

Frost needs to be severe to kill charlock & it will only kill what was in flower. If it didn't survive a British winter, it would be extinct, wouldn't it?

Back in September the feeling was that if we waited for the right timing to use Astrokerb the mayweed would of been to big and that definitely would of been the case with how mild it’s been, Agronomist has always said that you can’t rely on Astrokerb to kill mayweed.
Charlock hasn’t been in flower at all.
Can the Fox and oil mix “touch” the rape?

When I was a OSR grower ( glad I have given it up ) I found the only chemical to kill charlock was ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,glyphosate. very strong dose.
Used all the above, they never worked nor did frost.

Yes, Fox plus oil can tickle the crop, if unwaxed. We've had enough frosts to harden the osr off so crack on! The cold snap ends here (North Oxfordshire) tomorrow, though it will still work if the next frost is in a couple of weeks.

Do leave a couple of weeks between Fox and any of the Kerb products or you really will hit the crop hard.
