Cheapest 6m dribble bar

Who makes the cheapest 6m dribble bar? Looking for one to fit on the back of an existing 1600 gallon major tanker, not heavy user only 250k gallon a year but like to be independent and 4k grant available at the moment.

How do you mean? ( I know nothing about them tbh)

I would put my neck out and say that dribble bars/trailing shoes are going to give an improvement in nutrient use efficacy but it will be marginal. Using a boom to apply slurry has to be handier and easier than a splash plate, looks far more accurate and 'professional' and should generate a lot less odour (in the right conditions) whereas a splash plate generates aerosols almost as a by product.

I get what your saying but it is difficult to quantify any saving in nitrogen. Odour not a problem here as we are in the middle of nowhere and I can see operating the machine as more difficult than a splash plate. Then there is the running costs of it and inconvenience of more to freeze up in frosty weather. Dilemma……

For what's it's worth I had some injected by @mtx.jag 1 autumn a few years back and there was a marked zigzag line up the headlands in the spring where the injector was lifted out and dropped back in!!

Genuinely be one of the best investment you can make on slurry kit,it will pay for its self over and over again in what you save on bag fert

Get the best macerator you can. None of them are in infallible. 50 mill pipes instead of 45. I blocked mine about 8 times last year on its first outing but I’m not blaming the machine I did have some awful lumps in the slats. I find the younger cattle are lethal for pulling in silage.

Out of the 24 odd farms I pump slurry for,I’d say only 6 or so still use splash plate, the rest ask for injector, trailing shoe or dribble bar. They can see the difference it makes to there grass.

Keep your £6000 in your pocket and wait till it’s written in law that you cannot use your splash plate . Be plenty second hand about for less money by then .
You won’t get a grant on a used one plus it will almost always be shagged and need money throwing at macerator

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
