I was astounded they still use ‘top links’ to adjust the depth. Even a manual ram wedge type affair would be better.Looks an improvement. Leading disc in front of the tines would be abig improvement in grass leys, especially when you can't get get that on mounted drills currently.
Hydraulic adjustment of the depth wheels would make life a fair bit easier too.
A half turn adjustment can be the difference between and on depth control. Or that maybe me being too particular!I was astounded they still use ‘top links’ to adjust the depth. Even a manual ram wedge type affair would be better.
I don't think it's just you, it takes me ages as it varies across different stubble types and even then I'm not always particularly happy!A half turn adjustment can be the difference between and on depth control. Or that maybe me being too particular!
Glad I’m not the only one that finds this, as well as a fair difference in depth between an empty and full seed hopper on our 3m. Could do with doubling up on the depth wheels and finer thread on adjustment.A half turn adjustment can be the difference between and on depth control. Or that maybe me being too particular!
It’s basically a spring tine holding the coulter isn’t it on a Claydon? It’s always going to flex. I know we had a neighbour drill our beans 2 or 3 years ago with a hybrid and they were anything from 4” deep to on the surface but it was incredibly dry and hard that spring (hence asking him to do it) was quite impressed the drill handled it but did note the coulter flex.Glad I’m not the only one that finds this, as well as a fair difference in depth between an empty and full seed hopper on our 3m. To be fair to it I’m probably being over critical, as it’s very good at what it does and I do quite like the drill, wouldn’t want to put anyone off buying one. Just a couple small improvements we will do to make it better. It’s basically a spring tine holding the coulter isn’t it on a Claydon? It’s always going to flex. I should just say, I think its a good thing to have that amount of fine tuning available. It can be adjusted with half a turn, is a good thing. I can drill for days without changing the depth when sowing forage rape mixes, just like to keep an eye on it for wheat etc when conditions change. I like our toolbar as it stays more true that one with a hopper on.A half turn adjustment can be the difference between and on depth control. Or that maybe me being too particular!
What spec is your toolbar? And what front tank are you running?I should just say, I think its a good thing to have that amount of fine tuning available. Its a 4.8 metre toolbar with a Claydon hopper bought second hand with Topcon electronics on itWhat spec is your toolbar? And what front tank are you running?
