Hi there, please help me. Does anyone know about companies in USA and Canada providing Variable Rate Technologies on the farm (VRT). Please give me company names. Thanks

Seems like VRT is getting a big push forward, all the major manufacturers are on board, Deer,Agco, CNH, Kubota........Trimble,Raven,Topcon.
Its a new facet to the way forward so can only increase in demand............the days of applying blanket treatment to crops are drawing to a close.

Woe there, not so fast. The push by all the companies is for very valuable data that farmers are more then willing to pay to give away, buy expensive new equipment, and technology. It provides opportunity for many new businesses to generate prescriptions, do mapping, consultations, Drone filight, satellite imagery and ..... For the farmer, its a great way to spend 10 to make 8.

We use “Farmers Edge” originally begun in Manitoba but now widespread in the Prairies and in the States too.
Another company “Decisive Ag”. But there are quite a few others here in Sask.
We have used FE for 2 years on about 40% of the farm and this year we will try to evaluate the benefit. They also do soil sampling, after which we give them a budget with the instruction to make best use of that N budget. For now we are doing Variable Rate N and our P and K blend through the X20 on the Bourgault drill.
The first year they had a screwup with the prescription for one field, only noticed by me on the seeder tractor when the fert tank beeped empty. The canola should have had 45lbs/ac P/K blend but it got 90. The fear in that instance was poor germination because of the salt load, but it turned out a record crop - and they reimbursed us for the extra ferts used.
This year exceptional results - but a lot of that down to timely rains. Most bigger farmers with computer controlled drills are at least experimenting with VRT.
