Electric grain passports threatened...again!

Just seen an article in Old Yello, saying that electric grain passports are being talked about again!
I can't believe that farming members of the Grain Liaison Group are even entertaining this idea, as last time the suggested scheme was appallingly one sided. The grain trade would not make a filrm commitment to pass on quality measurements when a load was received, PLUS guess which party was going to stand for the total cost? Yep the farmers.
Given these two failings, I think only a farming fool would vote for the imposition of electric passports.

I don’t see why they couldn’t email the results to us anyway.

Electronic passport or paper passport.

I mean how hard is it to send an automated email...?!

The money travels electronically after all!!

Yes, the trade absolutely refused to notify the farmer about quality of sent loads last time.
As to cost, Steevo, do you think that paying for the trade to electrify their paperwork is a good idea - as far as I'm concerned they can stuff it. I mean, some people were grousing about paying the AHDB 75p per tonne -if the trade were to get their way, we'd probably be parting with another £ per tonne to finance their profits.
As I did last time, I'll be contacting the head of the NFU arable committee to suggest he opposes this idea.

I will accept electronic passports when the end user sends me the intake analysis results on every load. Until then, I will continue to lobby the NFU to push against this. If the trade want these, then we need something in return.

I don't see why we need the electronic passports at all.

The only carrot we MIGHT get (but not even properly offered) is grain load feedback.

Personally I can't see why they can't do this regardless....starting from tomorrow for example. A quick automatic email or text isn't hard. Even my dentist and doctor can send me a text the day before my appointment as a reminder so it's not rocket science or mega bucks to do.

Once they've implemented this....I might come to the table to discuss their idea of electronic passports.

I've got loads going at the moment that are borderline so are each being sampled on the lorry by the merchant before going to the mill to check the spec. Feedback would help all parties on this but the grain trade clearly don't see this.

While they are at it.....maybe they could ensure their tipping (and waiting!) times are on a par to that of the farmer who loaded!

There's a pile of the yellow passports in my office, and I'm quite happy to go on writing them out instead of being forced into using the electronic sort.

Yeah, yeah, I'm sure he waits on every word I say.
In the real world, results are produced by a large number of a community protesting, and if only Brisel and I complain then the new electronic passports may well be introduced.
The fact that the NFU decided against them last time means that a lot of members said no, and my mere letter was only one of many.

Frontier text uus with specs on loads into flixborough almost as soon as it's tipped.

But it's yet another hurty stick for farmers, while we and hauliers have to deal with the generally pee poor infrastructure of UK mills.

Yes anything tipped into a "Frontier" tip is communicated back at tip time. That means all ABN mills, Manchester Gold etc.
Get it tipped at Moy Park Ashbourne you'll wait weeks!

If electronic passports reduce the paper work and integrate record keeping and feedback it cannot be a bad thing
But it has to save cost
The grain users have to get their intake streamlined as too many trucks spend hours waiting
I can turn round loading grain and unloading imputes in under half an hour .an efficient intake should take no longer my local coop intake can test and tip in half an hour
