We did last yearPotential fodder beet newbie here...
Can you just feed it whole in a TMR?
I don't think my wagon has over brilliant knives on it anymore...
Fodder Beet contains sugar and hardly any starch. typical analysis is 2% starch and 65% SugarAlso in the last pic there is an unused trough on the right hand side , could I get away with putting it all down there in one hit at the same time as I feed meal or would that be too much starch in one hit
Currently feeding 5kgs of meal after each milking , on top of grass silage
Same boat here started feeding 2 weeks ago just feeding it whole in the feeder, our knives arent great. we got told to either feed it whole or make sure its chopped up properly so they cant choke on it.Potential fodder beet newbie here...

We have no knives. Bit I didn’t like was if it’s not washed beet, you clean the soil off onto the silage. But it didn’t seem to bother intakes. The other thing is they love it and will hunt it out in the trough sometimes managing to shovel silage out. But we where only feeding a kilo to use some upWe did last year
stones=change supplier or complain to them, they may think your just tipping them in a bunker so not sorting them out
re the bits lost,i made extra bars in mine to make the gaps smaller
Just started dabbling with this stuff.
Wasn’t a very clean sample that had only just been lifted. Started pressure washing off and feeding whole but novelty soon wore off but cows love it and proteins lifted plus I’ve eased blend back.
Bought a tanco cleanafeed but stones are giving grief and even with volume washing losing more smashed beet out the bottom than I’d like!
Other than changing supplier any other suggestions?
Wow, those are really dirty beet!Just started dabbling with this stuff.

Much better sample!Look even better after they’ve been over the cleaner and had any stones pulled out.
Here’s what’s just come out a single load (20t), I’ll bet there’s over half a tonne of soil and tops and that’s despite them looking clean in heap.Much better sample!
Mine were a couple quid a ton cheaper than others I’ve seen but it wouldn’t be enough to cover the mud I’ve bought
Feeding it yet? Any response?Got some of ours out this week. Pleased how they came out with frost on the ground.

I’ve seen a lift in butterfat as well as protein now I’m feeding a bit more (8kgs)
