Got some later drilled winter wheat on heavy cold land going to give it some N soon but would it be worth a does on managense or some other trace elements to get it going ?

I doubt it on heavy land. A roll when its dry in march will do more good i would thinkGot some later drilled winter wheat on heavy cold land going to give it some N soon but would it be worth a does on managense or some other trace elements to get it going ?

More likely early April for experience. You know what the weather is like, might not actually become dry enough to roll in March.
I know im not on heavy ground and that would be a different ball game altogether but dad rolled some winter barley last week that wasn't really responding to sprayed on MN and it's transformed the crop. It's a lot darker in colour looks, really healthy and the patches of MN have vanished.
On a separate not, we moved our heavy 6ton road roller and to avoid draging through mud and onto the road we went along the headland of another field and there is a strip where the roller went that's a really vivid green in another wise yucky looking barley crop in January.

All ours was rolled in the autumn and has already had 2 if not 3 doses of MN.Very common on lighter land to see visible MN deficiency if the soil is loose- often you will the plants on headland turns or in the tramlines is greener than the rest. I'd be putting on Mn in autumn and again ASAP if it was possible.
Was always told by my old agronomist boss on light land, sand in particular, roll it, roll it a bit more, more again, then when you got a spare hour, roll it some more.... Got to get the roots pressed into the soil to take up nutrients. Mn also...I know im not on heavy ground and that would be a different ball game altogether but dad rolled some winter barley last week that wasn't really responding to sprayed on MN and it's transformed the crop. Do both. I'm not averse to rolling it more than once. This is the problem- spray a crop with foliar feed now or wait 6 weeks to get a chance to roll it? Not nice having a clearly suffering crop in front of you.
Spring rolling wheat isn’t something ive ever done but surely the crop would be at stem extension by then?More likely early April for experience.
If it is, then I won't do it. We're usually fine in early April. The aim is to keep it tillering, and so once it's at gs30 then too late.Spring rolling wheat isn’t something ive ever done but surely the crop would be at stem extension by then?
